What is Drag Racing?

Drag racing is a type of competitive motorsport where motor vehicles—ranging from stock automobiles and motorcycles to specially modified machines—compete to complete a straight, level course in the shortest amount of time, starting from a complete standstill.
The most common distance is a quarter-mile (402.5 meters or 1,319 feet). However, in Brazil, it is also practiced on tracks of other dimensions, such as an eighth-mile (between 201 and 301 meters).
Safety and Conditions

Safety is a critical factor for the success of these events. Even a small amount of rain is enough to cancel a race; because high-performance cars rely heavily on traction to stay on the track, wet conditions significantly reduce grip.

Championships are held regionally under the supervision of state federations, drawing large crowds and numerous competitors.
Accessibility
Participation is broad and highly accessible. Regulations include various categories, ranging from stock (original) vehicles to highly advanced, high-performance prototypes.
